Global Summer School

The 2021 National Tsing Hua University Global Summer School(NTHU GSS) is now open to foreign students who have already studied in Taiwan!

NTHU GSS offers 6 courses in the fields of Life science, Chemical Engineering, Globalization Management, Integrated Circuit Processing, Art and Urban Culture of Taiwan, Administration Management.

We offer two different programs for students. Program A contains in-class lectures with plenty of choices, covering a wide range of academic fields. Program B combine in-class lectures with field trips, extending the learning from class. 

Except for the academic courses, we also offer Basic Mandarin course as an optional course(additional fee US$200) for students who would like to enhance language ability. 

In addition, Two one-day culture tours are arranged for both Program A and Program B. We will introduce you to various aspects of Taiwanese rich culture.

We accept no more than 26 participants this year. Don't miss it!

※ Note:  
We believe that cultural experience is an important part of Global Summer School, thus we still hope that students could join in it physically.
However, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, if border control or the quarantine measures still implemented before the end of May, students could consider taking our online courses.

Besides, it takes 40 min ride from the international airport, 2-3 hours ride from Taichung, Kaohsiung..etc, by HSR.
So you can enjoy the pleasant climate and to have a quality stay in one of the most beautiful, resourceful campuses in Taiwan for a summer.  

Be Known for the History and Resources
National Tsing Hua University has a long and proud history. First established as the Tsing Hua Academy at Tsing Hua Garden, Beijing in 1911, the first modern university in modern Chinese history, the Academy was renamed as National Tsing Hua University in 1928 as its curricula expanded to that of a full-fledged university. After WWII, in 1956, National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) was reinstalled on its current campus in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Since its reinstallation, NTHU has developed from an institute focusing on Nuclear Science and Technology to that of a comprehensive research university offering degrees programs ranging from baccalaureate to doctorate in science, engineering, life science, humanities and social sciences, as well as management. NTHU has been consistently ranked as one of the premier universities in Taiwan and is widely recognized as the best incubator for future leaders in industries as well as academics. Such stellar records are particularly exemplified by the outstanding achievements of our alumni, including two Nobel laureates in physics, Dr. Cheng-Ning Yang and Tsung-Dao Lee, one Nobel laureate in chemistry, Dr. Yuan-Tseh Lee and one Wolf Prize winner in mathematics Dr. Shiing-Shen Chern.

For students from China: January to April 30, 2021 (Because of the visa process, the application deadline would be early for students who hold the passport of People's Republic of China)
For students from other countries: January to May 14, 2021

Admission is open to anyone who has completed at least 1 semester or 2 quarters of college or university study.

* National Tsing Hua University Global Summer School (GSS) reserves the right to admit or decline students.

* Students holding a People's Republic of China passport must apply for a Taiwan Entrance Permit by The National Immigration Agency, Taiwan, ROC and must pay the Fee US$25 in advance. (Note: Students should apply for “往來台灣通行證” by themselves).

* Please be sure to purchase and obtain a medical and accident insurance before your arrival. During your stay in Taiwan, the insurance should cover medical and hospital expenses for sickness or accidents. Medical or hospital expenses are expected to be paid at the time of treatment in Taiwan.

Optional choice(Additional Fee)
We offer three optional choices for students who want to experience more during our program period. 
After choosing either Program A or Program B, Student may enjoy course below with an additional payment of USD200 for each course.
(1) Course7-Exploring Taiwan:18 hours, offer 1 credit
(2) Course8-Basic Mandarin Course: 18 hours, 1 credit
(3) One more in-class lecture: 18 hours, 1 cedit, choose 1 more course among course1-6

For example, students who choose Program A could pay additional USD400 for Exploring Taiwan and Basic Mandarin Course.
For example, students who choose Program B could pay additional USD200 for the second course, making it total 2 in-class lectures.

(1) Courses might be suspended if there are less than 5 students.
(2) All the courses are offered in English, except the Basic Mandarin Course and cultural tours. 
(3) We reserves the right to cancel course, change faculty and/or room assignments, modify its calendar, and make adjustments to the course schedule.


Credits and Transcrips
We give one credit per course according to the regulation in Taiwan and would offer transcript after students finish the program.


 

Program Fee(for students who are not studying in Taiwan) :
(1) US$2,400* Including courses(either Program A or Program B), housing, two cultural tours and two parties.
(2) Discounted price of US$2,000 for students from our partner universities.
(3) We charge an additional US$200 for each of the optional courses.

Group Discounts:
(1) 2 students, each of you may enjoy US$50 discount.
(2) 3 students, each of you may enjoy US$80 discount.
(3) 4 students and above, each of you may enjoy US$100 discount.
 
It's fine to enjoy partner universities discount and group discount together.



Program Fee(students enrolled in Taiwan's universities): 
(1) Register before April 30
 - National Tsing Hua University students (excluding accommodation): NT$7000
 - Students from other universities(including accommodation): NT$15,000
(2) Register from May 1
 - National Tsing Hua University students (excluding accommodation): TWD 12,000
 - Students from other universities(including accommodation): NT$20,000

We will send you a confirmation e-mail after the registration deadline, please make a remittance to NTHU's bank account within 10 days. You must transfer the required payment in full, with the remittance fee excluded. Then e-mail the scanned file of the remittance receipt to dgm@my.nthu.edu.tw.
